Colors & Flavors

Hi everyone!!

How are you all?

This is the review for the book Colors & Flavors by Hameed Suhail.

My friend Hashim from Kerala suggested this book for me. He told me that the author of the book is his best friend. It is a book with just 116 pages.

This book is a collection of 5 stories. You could finish it in one stretch.

First Story:

The story starts with Manu's dislike towards his work. He meets his ex-girlfriend at his workplace. He doesn't know how to react. His ex-girlfriend gives him a gift and leaves. Then Neena comes into the story plot. She is Manu's girlfriend. Neena behaves in the same way as all girls would behave when they come to know about the meeting between their boyfriend and his ex-girlfriend. Manu steals the reader's heart when he confesses that he never opened the gift given by his ex-girlfriend. Neena's painful past, Manu's activities to make her happy was portrayed beautifully. At last when Neena decided to go to abroad, I was in a shock. But the ending was good!!! I loved the ending. It was like watching a typical South Indian movie. Neena didn't go abroad, she came running from the airport and married Manu.

"She didn't go. She couldn't go. She loved Manu that much. They got married and later they were blessed with two cute babies Sana and Sara and they lived happily for long years..."

Second Story:

The Mondovi express plays a major role in this story as the starting and ending takes place here. The story is about Rohith who left his home and is in search of job. He left his home because of his step mother. His step mother was cruel to him. She wanted her daughter to get all the possession of Rohith's father. So Rohith left home, he never wanted any of the possessions. In The Mondovi Express Rohith meets Monappa who offers him a job. Thus Rohith's new life started. He gets new friends in Mumbai. Whenever a boy is new to a place, he suddenly gets a girl friend. Archana, the leader of their gang accepts his love proposal and they start loving each other. Then comes the twist in the story. Rohith receives a letter from his village stating that his father has passed away, and so he have to come back to perform all the rituals. Rohith thought that his step mother is calling him just to transfer all his father's possession to his sibling Sangavi. Rohith and his gang of friends goes to his village.A surprise waits for Rohith. Thats the ending.

"Once a person realizes the meaninglessness of their life it is better to spare them from forcing to suffer more. We are no perfect to decide punishments to others, we should let the almighty do it."

Third Story:

I am in total confusion to state which genre this story belongs to. First the story was little sad, then at last it was a bit humorous. Gautham is a family man. He is in hospital as his wife Alice is being admitted for delivery. Actually Gautham is married to Seema. Alice is his lady love. He married Seema because of the promise his father made to Seema's father. He told everything to Alice but he hid everything from Seema. He hates himself for betraying Seema. Then Seema comes to know about Alice as Alice's friend Geetha is a friend of Seema. After a lot of confusions, Gautham life was sorted out. One night he gets a call which makes the readers laugh a lot!!!

"Gautham this is me Geetha. I thought very well. I will never get a better guy than you. I have decided. I need you.. I love you"

Fourth Story:

Among the five stories, this is my favorite story!!! It is both thrilling and emotional. Nidha John goes to Lubina Hully(a hill station). The author explains her drive to Lubina Hully as if she is going for vacation. But then I came to know that She didn't go to Lubina Hully for admiring the nature. She went there for some other reason. This story is full of suspense. So I am not going to reveal the suspense beforehand. Try reading it."Everyone have their own reasons to justify."

Fifth Story:

Girls who love their crush a lot must read this. But this story made me cry at the end.
It is a typical love story filled with fun, surprises and friendship. Author links the characters Manu, Neena,Sana and Sara from the first story and makes us to think a lot.

"You saw that waves",I told her pointing to the waves. She did."They never stay here at the shore. But still they don't leave the shores never to return. So do I, our happiness might have been mortal but our love is eternal..."

About the author:

Hameed Suhail was born and brought up in Cochin the queen of Arabian Sea. He is an active lover of art and literature. He has written many fiction genre novels in his local language 'Malayalam'.In all of his works he has managed to incorporate scenes from the true lives of people around him to give natural shades to the themes he try to describe.  I asked Hashim about the author as he was his best friend. Here are few words from Hameed's friend Hashim:

" He was actually a different person. Whatever he does, he keeps a difference in that. We have done many skits together. His passion was to be an author. He was also famous in school. He was very creative. He was a nice human being. And he loves fancy a lot!!!"

And did you notice the adverb "was"? Yes the painful truth is that Our Hameed Suhail left this world 5 months back. He left this world, but through his words we could make him live forever in our hearts. Hats off Hameed Suhail!!!
