Black And White...

Hello Everyone!!!

I am Aysha.

I am dark and am very sad about it(not proud of it).

So people who are sad about your skin color and those who wish to be white skinned can read this post. I wish, my post will make some of you to rethink your view about skin color.

Does skin color matters in this 21st century??

-Those who say No,I can prove that you are wrong.
-Those who answer Yes, I'm sure that you would have gone through or witnessed any of the following incident.

#1 DURING PREGNANCY

DAUGHTER: Mom, Can I eat grapes???

MOM: Why are you asking dear??
DAUGHTER: No Mom, I'm afraid that my child's complexion may get dark..:-(
MOM: Yes Dear,Better avoid grapes. Take saffron, your child will be as white as milk...

#IS BABY WHITE SKINNED?

My friend once had a call from her cousin. Her cousin told her that his wife has given birth to a baby... My friend's first question was,"IS THE BABY WHITE SKINNED?"....

#This incident was told by my colleague. Her neighbor gave birth to a very beautiful daughter.(Beautiful daughter means fair skinned). Her husband is not fair, he is dark skinned. My friend's grandma told her,"Thank God! The baby didn't get the skin color of her father". My friend asked her why is she so keen about skin color. Her grandma replied,"Fairness is very important for a girl. No one could deny it.".

#This was also told by my colleague. When she was a child, her mother would never allow her to play with the poor kids, But she used to play with them. One day her mother called her and scared by telling,"If you are going to continue playing with them, their dark skin color will come to you and you will also become dark."

#There are lots of photo editing apps which are created just to make people look fairer.

#Whenever I switch on the TV, I always see advertisements for fairness creams,. Is it really necessary? Why can't we remain dark? Why do we want to change into white skinned girl? These ads make us feel inferior. They tell us that it is very important to be fair.

#Even in movies, white skinned girls are praised whereas dark skinned girls are either humiliated or not even debuted. Being fair is one of the main criteria to become an actress.

#The worst of all is during marriage. When parents start looking for alliance, their first condition is,"The girl must be fair. She must be slim. She must be beautiful.".

To the dark people out there, don't ever feel inferior. To the white people who think dark skin as a curse, you are not insulting us, you are insulting The Almighty God as he was the one who created us.

The bitter truth is, In our country India, we,the dark skinned people, face lot of discrimination and insults... But our Indians are very busy talking about Racism in other countries!!!

"As you grow older, you'll see white men cheat black men
every day of your life, but let me tell you something and
don't you forget it - whenever a white man
does that to a black man,
no matter who he is, how rich he is, or how fine a family
he comes from, he is trash."

"Until the philosophy which holds one race superior and
another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and
abandoned everything is war"

  2. Aysha thank-you for sharing about the things you face. It's not things I knew were out there, that people would do to each other. I recently met openly racist people and was horrified.
I think a major issue is lack of awareness. And blog posts like what you shared etc. help so much in opening our eyes to where the problems lie.

I hope you reach a point where you are proud of your beautiful skin. I think darker skin is so pretty- goodness- just look at all the people who go out and tan! I am one of those people... I'm going out to mow my lawn and planning to wear a tank top so I can get more sun!

Anyway. I don't know what all to say here so I am rambling. But I really appreciated your blog. It helped me learn and I hope you share more with us over time. (((hugs)))

  3. Racism is a blight. Of course dark skin is beautiful. And I know that what you face is still real. The only solution is to stand up to it. And I will certainly be joining you.
